Lillian Huisking always loved the arts. Lillian spent her final years in a retirement community, taking the bus to Van Wezel shows. “The Van Wezel really improved the last 10 years of her life,” said Charlie Huisking, her son (pictured above with his mother).

“She loved live performances and fully supported education of the arts.” Her son tells of her years as an Asolo Repertory Theatre usher, and as a painter behind the scenes. She believed art should be a part of every child’s life. Charlie credits her for his love of the arts, “dragging” him to his first show when he was just 10 years old.

Lillian’s love of the Van Wezel and desire to support arts education was apparent through the creative legacy gift she set up.

By establishing a Charitable Remainder Trust for the Van Wezel Foundation, she was able to receive retirement income during her life and benefit arts education programming.  This creative gift is just one way you can show support for the things that matter most to you.  There are many simple and rewarding ways to leave a legacy, just as Lillian did.

Art has the power to bring us together. Your gift carries your passion forward. We invite you to join with others who share your love of the arts and arts education in our Bravo Legacy Circle.  What is the legacy you’d like to leave?
